Money isn’t the only motivating factor for an employee to begin looking for a job elsewhere. No room for advancement is a common complaint heard from employees who are dissatisfied with their current employer. Many employees start to feel stuck when there is no chance to grow within their current company. Most good employees are also looking for a challenge. If a good employee doesn’t feel like they are learning or advancing their skills then they may start to look at other companies where they can go to improve and help make an impact on an organization. Small to medium sized businesses can offer more challenges to an employee that is coming from a larger organization. Often there is less red tape and they feel more engaged with the owners of the company and thus have more power and importance than if they were working for a larger organization.
